Some add them to the batter just before pouring it on the griddle. I prefer to sprinkle the berries onto the pancake just after I've poured it, while it's still wet. That way you can be sure the berries are evenly distributed.

That's right. Pour the batter, add the blueberries immediately, and then when the bottom is golden brown, you turn it. Trust me, it will work.
